World class holiday rentals in Dubai

Dubai is a perfect all year destination. Known as the Desert City, it is one of the most exciting cities in the world with hotel development forging ahead at a pace and new attractions opening all the time. It is in the United Arab Emirates, and although it has truly embraced modern tourism, it is still traditional and remains true to its Arabic and Islamic roots.

Although Dubai’s hotels are among the best in anywhere, there is something special about a Dubai holiday villa. You might find it in the craggy mountains, overlooking a stunning beach, on the edge of a lush verdant park, or on the outskirts of a desert village.

Dubai Sports

Dubai is a city of superlatives. It has the world’s tallest hotel and its stunning, soaring skyline is becoming as recognizable as the likes of London, New York and Hong Kong. You really want to choose Dubai holiday accommodation that offers a view of the cityscape. Not satisfied with its existing bit of coastline, Dubai created an artificial island, adding a further 120km of beachfront to be enjoyed. The ocean provides the perfect playground for a host of water sports. Dubai Creek is the location for scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, water skiing, jet skiing and fishing.

There are also world class sporting events that draw people from all over the world to fill Dubai holiday rentals. International tennis tournaments, multi-million dollar golf competitions and the richest horse race, the Dubai World Cup, have all become major fixtures on the annual sporting calendar. This has generated a legacy of excellent sports facilities open to the public including riding stables, golf courses, health clubs and even indoor ice rinks. If you fancy enjoying some sport in the desert sands, try a jeep safari or a spot of paragliding. Take a Dubai holiday villa with a pool and you’ve got all the sporting bases covered.

Dubai Shopping

Few places can rival the shopping in Dubai. The malls are super-modern and spacious and are packed with amenities as well as the shops that sell everything from the latest gadgets , high designer clothing to traditional Arabic handicrafts. For all you shopaholics out there, the best time to book Dubai holiday accommodation is mid-January to mid-February, when the city hosts a month long shopping festival. Many of Dubai’s excellent restaurants are also in the major shopping malls and areas. There’s a big international influence so as well as local cuisine, you’ll also find European and Asian food in plentiful supply.

Dubai Culture

The modern heart of Dubai is Deira. It’s a busy commercial area with a mass of shops, leisure facilities and restaurants, but if you want to see something of traditional Dubai head for Bur Dubai, just south of Dubai Creek. Here, the authentic architecture is the star especially the Jumeirah Mosque and the House of Sheik Saeed. Book Dubai holiday rentals in this part of the city if you want to be close to the museums – the Dubai Museum and the Natural History Museum.

Dubai Weather

The best time to plan a visit to Dubai is April to October when the arid sub-tropical climate is most bearable. Daily temperatures in these months are between 20 and 30 degrees.

Getting to Dubai

The UAE is a major stopover destination on transcontinental flights from Australia. Emirates flies from Sydney to Dubai twice daily. There are also a large number of scheduled flights to Doha in Qatar and Abu Dhabi and from both it is then a connecting flight to Dubai airport and a short transfer to Dubai holiday accommodation.

Our short stopover in Dubai in January was unbeatable. As a young married couple in our mid-twenties, we have never experienced the respect and friendly attitude anywhere else. There was so much to do and see for couples, families and singles. You could buy anything in their massive shiny shopping centres or traditional Souks. An evening of belly dancing in the desert really showed the culture of the people and the country.

The only down point is Saturdays, everything closed! The Dubai Museum, cruises, shops, restaurants, etc. You are best to stay in your accommodation whilst prayers echo around the city from the hundreds of mosques. The double-decker bus takes you to Jaremiah Beach. You travel past the Palm and the World islands that are made out of sand. I’m sure you will have to see them by helicopter in a couple of years. With attractions such as the indoor ski centre, Wild Wadi water park and skyscrapers, you definitely get your moneys worth.

The largest residential tower was being built when we visited. I imagine it would have an amazing view. I received an email that had a photo taken from the top of the tower which showed the curvature of the earth! Now, if Dubai did not have enough to please you before, it certainly would now! Even though Dubai was merely a stop over on the way back from England, it should be a holiday in itself!
